How do I treat my oily skin during summer?
There are plenty of different skin types and one of the most common ones is oily skin. Many people feel that it gets harder during the hot summer months to maintain a good balance in their skin. Here are our best tips.
The reason why some have more of an oily prone skin type is that their sebaceous gland overproduces sebum, which is the body’s way of naturally hydrating the skin. Many people feel that it gets harder during the hot summer months to maintain a good balance in their skin. Those who have oily skin will often want to dry out the skin which, unfortunately, gives the opposite effect. The more you try to wash away and dry the skin, the more sebum your skin will produce. Remember that oily skin is usually also sensitive skin so be careful with which products you use in your routine. Try going for products that contain plenty of moisture, but with less fat and oils. Another tip is to carry tissue paper during the day so that you can easily absorb excess sebum when needed. A so-called blotting powder can also be a great alternative to matt and control oily skin.
Cleansing
Avoid strong cleansing products and don’t be scared to use mild oil cleansers even on oily skin. Our Cleansing Oil or Melting Cleansing Balm are two mild cleansers that quickly dissolve both dirt and makeup without drying out the skin. Finish off with a gentle foaming facial wash - Cleansing Facial Wash and a PH-balancing toner - Jasmine Facial Toner.
Treatment
A peeling with AHA and BHA acids is usually a good option for exfoliating the skin in a more gentle way as opposed to scrub grains. Try using our Treatment Enzyme Peel 1-2 times a week. The acids in this peeling removes dead skin cells while also stimulating the production of new ones. Keep your pores in order with the amazing ingredient called Niacinamide. Niacinamide is a multifunctional ingredient that improves your skin’s elasticity and helps reduces visible pores after regular use. Apply the Treatment Niacinamide Formula as the first step in your skincare routine both morning and evening. A great product to use once a week is the Purifying Mud Mask – a clay mask that deeply cleanses your skin with the help of Kaolin Clay. Our Purifying Mud Mask neither hardens nor dries out the skin as many other clay masks do.
Hydration
Go all-in when it comes to giving your skin plenty of moisture but avoid too much oil. Our Moisturising Serum is completely free from oils and contains Hyaluronic Acid and extracts from a water alga that boosts your skin with moisture. Follow up with our Moisturising Cream Gel which is a light cream gel that doesn’t include as many oils as many other moisture creams do. Bring along our hydrating facial mist – Moisturising Facial Mist, wherever you go to maintain that fresh feeling all day long.
